A prototype of SpaceX’s future Mars rocket exploded on landing after a successful high altitude test flight on Wednesday along the coast of Texas. The explosion can be seen in one of SpaceX’s recent tweets.
The launch went well for the first few minutes. Few moments into the fight, one of the engines went out and after few more moments, a second engine went out. After Approximately 4.5 minutes into the flight, the third engine went out and the spacecraft started descending as expected. The engines were started just seconds before the landing to slow down the spacecraft, but, the rocket was approaching the landing sight too fast, crashed and spectacularly exploded.
SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk was very happy with the test and recalled all the successful parts- the launch, the trajectory throughout the flight, and the pre-explosion landing trajectory.
SpaceX’s chief executive officer, Elon Musk, said in a tweet – “Fuel header tank pressure was low during landing burn, causing touchdown velocity to be high & RUD, but we got all the data we needed! Congrats SpaceX team hell yeah!!,”
